If you have more general questions about our products and services, please visit our FAQ  page.

Are there any Public Health requirements?

Wearing a mask is recommended for healthcare settings, including during Massage Treatments. Our Massage Therapists provide client-based care which means they respect your decision to wear or not wear a face covering during treatment.

Scandinave Spa Blue Mountain is a mask friendly environment.

Do you require proof of vaccination?

Guests are not required to show proof of vaccination status.

What measures is the Spa taking to ensure a safe visit?

The Scandinavian Baths (hot and cold pools) are all outdoors and follow the rules & regulations of Grey Bruce Public Health.  All Baths are treated with health-approved levels of chlorine & bromine. All water is quality control tested 4 times per day which is double the requirement by local health authorities. Scandinave Spa is committed to ensuring our water quality is maintained during all hours of operation. Guests can also request copies of Scandinave Spa Blue Mountain’s water testing results. Guests should feel confident that Scandinave Spa’s properly treated water is a low risk for virus and bacteria transmission. NOTE: All Spa Guests are required to rinse shower before their Massage treatment and the Thermal Spa experience.

Our cleaning and disinfection protocol have always exceeded the requirements of health authorities. Every day operations prioritizes water safety and sanitizing of the high traffic areas. Overall building maintenance and cleaning of all indoor and outdoor areas are disinfected daily.

In addition to regular cleaning, new disinfection procedures have been added to increase the sanitation of frequently touched surfaces such as sign-in tablets, lockers, seating, door handles, and handrails.

Scandinave Spa has also installed commercial-grade HEPA Air Filters in 6 areas of the Spa, including 3 Air Filters in the change rooms to maintain a consistent source of fresh air and circulation. A new and improved ventilation system in the Massage Pavilion was installed in fall 2018.

What hygiene measures can Guests expect?

– Hand sanitizing stations are available throughout the site, including at all entrances and exits.
– Locker rooms are frequently disinfected & cleaned by dedicated Attendants.
– Guests are required to shower before and after their massage, and prior to entering the Baths activity.
– Two towels are provided. Guests can ask for a replacement towel during their visit.
– Guests are asked to bring used towels to the drop-off bin to minimize staff contact with soiled laundry.
– Massage Rooms undergo detailed cleaning after each treatment as per College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) requirements and in accordance to Public Health standards.

Are Guests and Staff members health screened?

Members of our team are encouraged to stay home if they are unwell. We are passively screening all employees in advance of their shift.

Guests are asked to follow Public Health guidelines if they are feeling unwell prior to arriving at the Scandinave Spa Blue Mountain. Our cancellation policy permits Guests to cancel their reservation up to 5pm the day before their spa visit.

In conjunction with the required health history intake form, Registered Massage Therapists should use their professional judgement in determining whether to screen, but they cannot provide treatment to anyone with symptoms consistent with COVID-19 until those symptoms have subsided or to anyone who is supposed to be self-isolating at the time of their scheduled appointment. RMTs can also choose to screen and/or collect COVID-related info as part of health history. Passive screening, ie. signage, will continue.

We follow the advice of the CMTO as it relates to Registered Massage Therapy policies & procedures. Changes to guidance is closely monitored.

Is the Spa limiting capacity?

The overall number of guests on-site is less than pre-COVID capacity. All areas of the indoor and outdoor Scandinavian Baths Hydrotherapy activity are monitored by members of our team to ensure areas are not too busy.

On-site signage reminds guests to respect other guests personal space and other spa policies.

What if a Guest is sick?

Guests are required to assess how they feel in advance of arrival and to follow the health guidance of the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health in Ontario as it relates to COVID-19.

Registered Massage Therapists will also review Guest health history before deciding to proceed with treatment. The RMT, as a health professional, has the right to refuse treatment. Guests will receive a full refund if they are refused.

Are your Staff & Massage Therapists vaccinated?

COVID-19 vaccination is an important protection in health & wellness settings. However, vaccination status is personal health information and RMTs can choose whether to disclose their vaccination status.

Employers are required under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) to take
every precaution reasonable to protect workers. Scandinave Spa has identified risks and implemented appropriate controls for our staff members including the requirement to wear protective personal equipment and maintaining physical distancing when possible.

Scandinave Spa Blue Mountain ownership strongly recommends all staff members and Massage Therapists be fully vaccinated. Daily health screening is mandatory. Rapid testing kits are available and frequent testing is encouraged.

Can I enjoy the Spa with a friend or spouse?

The Scandinave Spa experience is a relaxing outdoor activity to enjoy with a friend, partner or family member. We offer an experience that prioritizes taking care of mind & body. Health & wellness is always essential.

The layout of our facilities means everyone can find space and comfort during their visit. We ask all Guests to be respectful of other Guests experience and their space too.
